  • Biography

    Dr. Kelly is a social psychologist and mathematical theorist who joined Catholic University as an Assistant Professor in the summer of 2020. Her mixed-methodology research program examines cultural dynamics of emotion, identity, and communication. Projects include a series of experiments disentangling cognitive mechanisms, the use of identity and emotion measures to model and predict relationship dissolution within hookup culture, and a collaborative international project on cultural similarities and differences in response to social interactions. She has a passion for teaching, helping students to understand a range of topics from principles of statistics to justice through microsociology. Dr. Kelly holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in sociology from the University of Georgia and a B.A. in sociology from the University of Delaware.
